Sunny Day Products, Winkler

On a tip from my uncle who lives in the Winkler area, we stopped by Sunny Day Products today as we were travelling through. They carry a variety of beans, all of which are locally grown, which they sell in bulk. We spoke to the owner, Dick Plett.

For beans, they carry: black beans, navy beans, dark red kidney beans, pinto beans, soybeans, roasted soybeans (i.e. as snack food). All beans are 80 cents/pound.

They also carry: Buckwheat (1.10/lb), flax (1.25/lb), golden organic flax (1.50/lb), sunflower seeds (roasted, raw, salted, unsalted and hulled; raw are 0.89/lb, hulled are 1.50/lb).

For contact info, see http://www.sunnydayproducts.com

Here's a map showing where they are located.

Jason, thanks for getting this info! Do you know if any of the nuts that they sell are local? -- DalilaS - 20 Mar 2007

Unfortunately, the nuts are all imported. As far as I know, nuts don't really grow in Manitoba (though I'd be happy to be proven wrong). -- JasonHildebrand - 21 Mar 2007
